Ways to give tax-smart

Discover which form of giving suits you.

Periodic gift

A periodic gift is a donation you make for at least 5 consecutive years. Because you can deduct the full amount from your taxes, you can give more to the children with the same net amount.

  • 100% of your gift is tax deductible
  • No threshold of 1% or maximum of 10%
  • You decide the amount and duration (minimum 5 years)
  • You can stop in case of disability or death

Example calculation

Do you donate €25 per month (€300 per year) as a periodic gift? With a tax rate of 37%, you can get €111 back annually through your tax return. You can donate this extra amount again, or see it as a way to give €300 to the children with less net budget.

Legacy

By including Lighthouse Ministry in your will, your commitment to the children in Namibia lives on. As an ANBI, we are exempt from inheritance tax, so everything you leave goes entirely to them.

  • No inheritance tax - 100% goes to the children
  • You decide what portion or amount to leave
  • Can be combined with other heirs
  • You can record your intention without obligation

We understand this is a personal topic. You are not bound to anything by letting us know your intention. It does help us to plan ahead.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is a periodic gift?

A periodic gift is a donation you commit to for at least 5 years. You decide the amount and when you give (monthly, quarterly, or annually). The agreement can end earlier in case of death or disability.

Why is a periodic gift more tax advantageous?

With a regular gift, you can only deduct the amount above 1% of your total income, up to a maximum of 10%. With a periodic gift, these thresholds don't apply, so your gift counts fully for tax purposes.

How do I set up a periodic gift?

Since 2014, a notary is no longer required. You can record the agreement online through our form. You will receive a PDF that you sign and keep for your tax return.

Do I need a notary for my legacy?

To include Lighthouse Ministry in your will, you do need to visit a notary. Through our intent form, you can already express your wish, but this is not legally binding.

Does Lighthouse Ministry pay inheritance tax?

No. As an ANBI-registered foundation, we are exempt from inheritance tax. This means 100% of what you leave goes to the children in Rehoboth.
